Photoshoot Images

I liked this photo from the photoshoot for my magazine. I wanted to use it on either the front cover or the double page spread. The only problem was, I was using the magic tool on photoshop to delete the background and the top that the model was wearing is the same colour as the wall. The magic tool then couldn't recognize that the top was different to the background so it would delete the top when I tried to delete the background. The problem was lighting because in actual fact, the top wasn't a different colour to the background therefore the lighting made it look that way.

Double Page Spread Article Draft

Q: You’ve just released your album, how does it feel?                                                                                                   

A: It feels so surreal; releasing my own album has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I can’t believe it’s actually happening.

 

Q: Are you going on tour?

A: Yes! I’m super excited about it.

 

Q: Where are you planning to go?

A: Hopefully all over the world but for now I’m going to Europe, the US and Australia.

 

Q: Do you have any idea on when tickets will be going on sale?
A: In a few month so not that long.

 

Q: So you’ve become a fashion icon. Do you work hard on putting your outfits together or does it just come naturally to you?

A: I usually just throw on any old thing but I try to update my wardrobe regularly to make sure I’m keeping up with fashion.

 

Q: What is your favourite accessorize right now?

A: I really love gold necklaces and bracelets, I think they look so pretty together and they make your outfits look more put together.

 

Q: So what’s next for you?

A: I definitely want to keep on making music. I can’t wait to get back into the studio.

Rationale

My contents page will have an image of my front cover but it will be small. It will have arrows from the articles that are on the front cover and it will have the page numbers that they are on. I am doing this because lots of Pop music magazines do it and I think it looks good on a contents page. I am having a little box in the corner with other page numbers so readers know what else is in the magazine. I will also have more information on what you can win and how so readers know what to do. There will also be some pictures of either existing celebrities that I have taken at concert or the one on my front cover. This will make my contents page more interesting.

Contents Page Flat Plan

Fonts and Colours

I have decided to use the font Impact for my masthead. This is a bold yet simple font. The font can also be made to look more bold using shadows. I am using this font because I am adding hearts around it therefore if it was a more bold font it may look a bit too much.

I am changing the colour of my masthead from black because that colour is too dark for a pop music magazine. I am changing the colour to pink because it is more of a girly colour and you would expect to see that colour on a Pop magazine. I am changing my masthead to pink for that reason but also because a lot of my target audience said that was their favourite colour so if the masthead is pink it might attract them more.

Pitch

My magazine is going to be a Pop music magazine. The colour palette will be quite bright, girly colours such as pink and yellow. The costume will be something bright and girly like a dress. I chose these colours and costume because these are the things that my target audience will like.  There will be a double page spread that will be a question and answer interview with a famous singer. I want my magazine to look quite bright and fun so it stands out which will make people want to buy it. I will take my photos in the studio because I want my magazine to look professional and I want a plain white background. The white background will help the magazine from looking too bright and bold and if it was, it would stop people from buying it.

This is the flat plan for my front cover. This will help me because I will know where everything needs to go when I make my front cover.

Hair Ideas

The curls are lose which makes it look a little relaxed. This hairstyle looks like it will be quite easy to recreate.

Make-Up Ideas

I like the make-up in this photo. It looks quite natural. 

Her eyelashes are longer and more dramatic than the first one. I like this make-up.

I like the make-up in this photo. I like how the eyes are very simple but she has matte red lipstick on which makes her make-up more interesting.

Recce

The potential hazards for my photo shoot would be someone tripping over TV wires or something like that. I will move wires so that no one will trip over them, this will help stop those hazards from happening. The time of day and weather will not effect my photo shoot as the photos will be taken inside. The background of my photos will be plain white. If natural light is streaming through a window and is ruining my photos, I will close the curtains. I am taking the photos in my house so I can take them whenever I want. Other people are not a problem for me because I will ask everyone to go into a different room when I take them. There will be no props in my photos. I think I have covered everything that could happen and I have a clear view of what I want the photo shoot to go like, however if something goes wrong I will try to sort it out in the best way possible.

These flat plans helped us because when it came to making the front cover and contents page, we knew where everything was supposed to go.

Preliminary Task - Contents Page

This colour scheme is the same as the front cover. Therefore, it is too bright and bold. For my music magazine's contents page I will have less bright colours and I will have more images. There are lots of different colours on this contents page and for my music magazine's contents page I will only have about 3 or 4.

Preliminary Task Feedback

Most people said that the colours used were too bright and bold. We used these colours because they are the college colours. I will pick a better colour palette for my music magazine. The colours I will pick will not be too bright or bold and they will match each other.

This photo was taken in the ilc. I didn't use this photo because it is slightly blurry.

This photo was taken outside and I didn't use it because it isn't a very good photo as no one is smiling.

Movement Photos

I don't want to have a movement photo in my magazine because I don't like it that much. I would prefer to just have a photo of someone by themselves in a studio. Looking at this photo has helped me though because now I know that I definitely don't want a movement photo.

Magazine Ideas

This magazine cover has helped me a lot. I like how the colours match the costume. The sub-headings down the side look quite neat and professional. I like how the background is a plain white and the photo has obviously been taken in a studio.

Magazine Moodboard

This is my moodboard. It has images of Pop music magazines. Some of the images are of front covers, some are of contents pages and others are of double page spreads. Looking at these magazines has helped me because now I'm having more ideas on what I want my magazine to look like. The front covers have really helped me because I now have a clear idea of what I want my magazine to look like.

Looking at these photos has helped me because I now know what different types of lighting there is and I know now think about which one I want to use.

This is a medium close up. It shows the head to the shoulders.

This is  a high angle. It is where the camera is looking down.

This is a long shot. It shows the head to the feet.

This is a close up. It shows the face.

This is the low angle. It is where the camera is looking up.

Taking these photos helped me because now I know how to take different shots and what they should look like. 

Practice Music Magazine

This is the practice music magazine that I made. I found it quite easy to make and I'm happy with the way it turned out. I find the tools easy to use. This is the 3rd practice product I have made on Photoshop and I think I'm getting better. I put the main image on first and then I put the masthead on. Although, like a lot of magazines, I wanted my masthead to be behind the main image so I moved it to the back. Making this magazine was helpful because I had to make a music magazine which is what the final product is. I now know what to do when making a music magazine. Overall, it was quite simple to make and I feel like I know what I need to about Photoshop and I'm comfortable using it.

Facial Expressions

This is the super smiler pose. It is where the person has a big smile and teeth are showing.

This is the romantic/sexual pose. It is where there is a man or woman or both and they are posing in a sexual way. This is a photo of a man and a woman and they are in an embrace which is romantic.

This is the invitational pose. The persons lips are parted but no teeth are showing.

This is the carefree pose. This is where they person or people can be jumping or doing something carefree.

This is the practical pose. It is usually like a business pose. The person is usually frowning or something like that.

This is the seductive pose. The persons eyes are squinted and they look quite confident. They could also have a slight smile.

This is the comic pose. They are pulling funny faces.

This is the catalog pose. The person has no expression and looks emotionless.

 

This is the chocolate box. It is where the person has a slight smile.

 

 

All of these poses have helped me because I now know what type of facial expressions there are. I can now tie that in with what type of magazine I want.

Preliminary Task

 

This was my Preliminary Task. It is a college magazine. Making this has helped me because not only did I have to know what to include on the front cover but I had to take the pictures also. Taking the pictures was quite easy because the pictures in college magazines are usually natural. They are taken when the person is doing something so it doesn't look like its been set up. Making the actual magazine was quite easy because I find Photoshop easy to use and I know what tools to use. I used these colours because they stand out and draws attention to the magazine. Overall, this was easy to do and it helped me understand where to put things on a magazine and what it should look like. I feel like now I have experience on making a magazine and I'm confident in doing so.
